This week has been harder to find a topic to blog about. It has been a good week, but more of an average week with no "stand out" stories to report.
The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous the last few days! Low -mid 60s and sunny! Glorious!! I have the spring fever bug really bad.
But I'm realizing, with the warmer weather, I can no longer hide in my sweatshirts and jackets. And I have a desire to be more active. My friend has been sharing her weight loss journey and its truly inspiring. (Check it out here.) Yet I cannot find the motivation to do anything about my weight. I make grand plans, but then they don't happen.
I decided this spring I would get Conni on her bike and that would help me to move faster when we want to go out for a walk/ride. Well, I forgot that my little bug still needed a little help to get the hang of pedaling. It takes us 15 minutes to get around the corner to moms. Don't get me wrong - I am proud of Conni for working hard on her trike and getting the hang of pedaling. That can really be a leg workout. But it means that I am going less than slow - so not really burning any calories. Conni is picking it up, but she's still tired by the time we get around the corner so she wants to stop at Grandma's not keep going. But that will come.
I tried planning to exercise at night after I get Conni to bed. But, if I choose that, then I have to give up my little weeknight time with Dave. He would encourage me to exercise, but we both want to spend some time together, and its not really an option to have us both exercising at the same time - or even in the same room for that matter.
So that leaves getting up earlier. "I will get up tomorrow" I say to myself. Then the alarm goes off and sometimes I consciously snooze and other times I don't even register the snooze. But regardless, by the time I am conscious of the time, its time to shower and get Conni up so we aren't late for our day.
Where is my motivation? Why can't I get myself going? Ok - I know I need to do better about going to bed at a decent time too. But I remember the days when I would stay up til midnight and be up before 7 the next morning out the door to work. Why can't I find that anymore?
Well, maybe I will figure something out. Tonight at our ward Relief Society night my friend will be speaking about her journey. Maybe she will share some inspiration. Maybe another speaker will help me out. I know that if I could just get started, I would love it and be able to continue.
What do you do to make time or get yourself up earlier? What motivates you?
